Tao Sunway Giza Lunch Buffet (review)

Photobucket
Although I just went to Tao like 1/2 year ago [My 1st experience with Tao can be found HERE] and did a review of my amazing experience there (you can check it out here) I always thinking to go back there again. When I was assign to do my intern in the Northern Malaysia, I wanted to try Tao Auto-city branch since rumours say they are the first and best Tao branch in Malaysia. However, I couldn't find any "kaki" to go with me =( (you wouldn't want to have buffet alone right? it's so pathetic >.<) so I missed the chance to tried it out. Luckily, my "kaki" in K.L willing to go down to Tao with me ^ ^

Tao Sunway Giza Branch, interior design.

First, the appetizer:
Photobucket
Appetizer
Photobucket(1) Sasa Eak(musroom stem) (2) Jelly Fish (3) Scallop Lips
(4)Chuka Wakame(seaweed) (5) Mini Zuke Takenoko (Bamboo Shoot) (6) Smoked Duck Breast
I like the seaweed alot, like usual. I don't really like bamboo shoot. Smoked duck breat is so-so, hope it come with some oily sauce like how Chinese serves Roasted Ducks.

Photobucket
Front to back, Tuna Sashimi, Salmon Sashimi, Steam Salmon Chinese style.
The Sashimi is great as usual, juicy andfresh! ^ ^
What amazed me is the Chinese style steam Salmon. Even if you don't like Salmon, you will fall in love with it. The Salmon is so tender. The slightly salty soya sauce with spring onion leaves is the bomb of the dish. It hide to unpleasent seafood smeel of the Salmon but enhance the sweetness of the fish.

Photobucket
Cold abalone cut. OMG~ I can never have enough of such abalone in my life! The soft and chewy texture of the abalone release it's original seafood sweetness in you mouth after you chew it for 3-4 time. It's amazing to know that this world class delicacy is served in a RM46++ buffet lunch bottomlessly!

Photobucket
Papaya Salmon. Very different from what I imagine >.< I though it was something I ate before on my last visit. It turn out something odd. No doubt it's a refreshing combination, but not to my liking =(

Photobucket
California roll. It's not my habit to oder rice product (or anything high with carbohydrate such as sushi and maki). When I aked the guys that ordered and taste the roll, they only node and give me no comment. So I assume it's better than those from sushi shop that they can't stop muching it! ^ ^

Photobucket
Grill Salmon. Up to it's standard, but I have compare to steam Salmon (that I mention earlier) it's still more distance away. It's a bit too dry. Although the wedges where covered by sauce bu the dryness isn't covered =(. Most probably over cooked~

Photobucket
Scallop. The signature dish that everyone recommend. I still feel ok ok. Not as addictive as what people around me discribe. If it's said that scallop is the dish that hook them back, mine will be abalone cut (mentioned earlier)

Photobucket
Chicken Wing. not very different from the Chicken Wing that you can get from Medan selera but not too bad.

Photobucket
Tamago Toufu. Tamago in Japanese is Egg, so it's egg bean curd. I didn't try it but my kaki comment "nothing special".

Tao Sunway Giza Buffet lunch: Bean curd with soup
Niku Toufu.Since my last experience dealling with Tao's soup, I never wanted to order any soup from Tao's buffet any more. The portion is ENORMOUS! If we come is a big group, yes you can order to share (stringly for sharing) else drinking the whole bowl of soup will fill all your tummy volume that you wouldn't have any more space for food.

Photobucket
Three Cup squid. Three cup style dish is a Chinese cuisine. Don't assk me why it's not 1 cup or 2 cup @.@, 3 cup iss just a name >.< The squid is free but the overall taste is just so-so.

Photobucket
Takoyaki. A must try in Tao! 10 time nicer than those merchants seels in Jusco or Japanese carnival. Must consume when it's hot but beware, although the outside might be cool off already the inside is still burning hot!

Photobucket
Oyster. The waitress recommend this to us. My kaki that doesn't like oyster do not have gust to try it but I like it a lot. The baked cheese toping hide the sweetness and tenderness of the seafood. A good way to serve raw food with a twist!

Photobucket
Fry Cheese stick. Aw... Every time I recall the time I eating this, my soul flies to heaven. The combination of cheese in the thin Wan Tan skin is not greasy at all.The thickness of the cheese is just nice. When you bite on the Wan Tan skin, the cheese will not flow out from the skin but soon it will melts in your mouth then the flavour and smell of the cheese will diffuse on your tongue.

Tao Sunway Giza Buffet lunch:deep fied squidDeep fried squid. I didn't see the point of serving such mediocre dish. No doubt it's acceptable but~~~ no comment... was hoping something more interesting.

After appetizer and main dish, it's time for dessert!!!

Photobucket Dessert bar. From left to right: pudding, cakes, cheese tart, cream puff, fruits.

Hehe... quite mediocre too, right? Wait until you see the back!
Photobucket
Choco fountain! *Light from heaven*

Photobucket
My favorite dessert would be cream puff coated with choco >.<

Photobucket
We are so expert in choco, we not even coat ice cream with choco but also food like cheese stick, scallop, even oyster. LOL serious metal disabled youngsters~
Side note: We saw the Sake was in promotion where 1 button for RM10(tax inclusive, so it is actually RM8.++)

Tao Sunway Giza Buffet lunch: Sake
The portion was very small that it's not enough for 4 ppl, barely 3/4 of the cup. Taste? I am not an alchoolic, so I might be bias (I don't like it XP)

Overall: 9.5/10 (I know I once rate it 10/10, not I gave it a lil lower not because their standard drop but because no changes their food. They have changed the menu but the taste hmmm... ok ok lor... was hoping more =()

Taste bud indulgence: 9/10 (Not to say not good, but the standard is not very consistence among the dishes served)
Purse saver: 10/10 (OMG, Less than RM50 for Japanese buffet lunch? You gatta be kidding me! )
Atmosphere: 10/10 (I like the ambience as a result of the yellow/orange like. Very orient decorations *LIKE* )

  2. Indeed the Sake portion is very little and I did ordered a 1.8 litre to try with my family. Overall experience was great and very filling over there =)
